OpenGovWeek2019- Armenia

The OGP Armenia working group has suggested a series of activities for the OpenGovWeek in Armenia. They will be implemented in a collaborative effort of multiple organizations and will link together under the tagline of “ArmOpenGovWeek”.

The following events are envisaged as part of the week.

Beneficial Ownership and Transparency - Panel discussion
March 11, 11:00-13:00

Venue: Yerevan, Ibis Hotel, Ararat Hall
Participants: Stakeholders for the beneficial ownership commitment, government, media.

Agenda: Panel discussion will suggest a facilitated debate among the representatives of the Ministry of Justice (custodian of the commitment), State Revenue Committee, Ministry of Finance, Freedom of Information Center of Armenia NGO, Transparency International Anti Corruption Armenia and Armenian Lawyers’ Associations NGO (TBC). The panel will discuss the following questions: a) challenges to application of beneficial ownership principles in Armenia; b) corruption prevention mechanisms embedded in the commitment; c) protection of public interest through the introduction of registry of beneficial ownership.

Financial support: This multi-stakeholder forum is implemented in the frames of ''Support to Participation and Co-creation of National/Local OGP Action Plan'' project funded by the World Bank.

Transparency in the Government and Investigative Journalism
March 13-15, 14:00-18:00

Master classes for Young Journalists

Venue: FOICA office, Yerevan
Participants: 30 Journalist-students from 5 universities
Agenda: "Transparency in the Government and Investigative Journalism" theme-master classes will be delivered to Journalist-students by the public and well known editors and journalists.
Financial support: This training “Access to Information and Investigative Journalism for Better Informed Citizens” is funded by EU project

Town Hall Meeting
March 15, 12:00 – 15:00

Venue: Vayq town, Vayots Dzor region
Participants: experts, local community, national and local government representatives

Agenda: Town hall meeting discussion to capture citizen perceptions of several ambitious commitments, included in the 2018-2020 Action Plan. The scenarios will include discussions over natural resource management, Community Web Pages, Land Cadastre and healthcare support liberalization topics. Pitching of 5 successful commitments from the previous Action Plans. Poster presentation featuring infographics on each commitment, showing their transformative effect.
